What is a Gong Bath?

A Gong Bath involves using healing gong sounds and frequencies to bring about healing and wellbeing. Gong and sound therapy have been practiced for thousands of years and are reputed to have many health benefits: Heart rate and respiration rates slow down and with the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, you may experience improved digestion, sleep and immune functioning. Sound frequencies work on a cellular level and studies suggest a Gong Bath can also support anxiety, stress, depression and release emotional blockages. More recently, there has been scientific evidence to suggest that certain forms of sound prompt DNA strands to repair themselves.

What to expect during a Gong Bath

When you attend a Gong Bath, you will be invited to lie down on a meditation mat and rest in a comfortable position. Nothing is expected of you, and you can just relax. A Gong Bath will last approximately 45 minutes; the gongs will be played quietly at the start of the session and the volume will slowly increase, though never to an uncomfortable level. There is always a short period of silence at the end of the session; this helps integrate the experience.

As a College of Sound Healing (CoSH)–trained Gong Practitioner, I offer 1:1 Gong Bath sessions designed to support deep relaxation, emotional release, and energetic rebalancing. My training is approved by the Complementary Medical Association (CMA) and the Therapeutic Sound Association (TSA), ensuring a high standard of professional, heart-centred sound healing.

Sherborne Gongs – Cancellation Policy

Our classes are small and intimate, designed to offer a peaceful, high-quality experience for every participant. Each session involves careful planning, preparation, and the hiring of beautiful spaces to ensure a nurturing environment.

Because of this, all bookings are non-refundable.

We kindly ask for your understanding that cancellations, even with 48 hours’ notice, often cannot be filled due to the limited number of spaces available.

However, if you notify us at least 24 hours before your class, Sherborne Gongs will happily:

  • Move your booking to another class, or

  • Issue a gift voucher of equal value, valid for 6 months and redeemable at any of our venues.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the class start time are non-transferable and non-refundable, as it is unlikely we can offer your place to another participant at short notice.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting the time, energy, and care that go into each Sherborne Gongs event.
